Mississippi-Based Tooth Fairy Inc. Forced to File for Bankruptcy

JACKSON, MS — In a development that has left dental hygienists and magical accountants reeling, Mississippi-based Tooth Fairy LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week.  CEO Trixie Glimmerdust cited what she called “an unsustainable and consistent, never-ending volume of tooth loss payouts in the Magnolia State.”

We knew Mississippian’s teeth were in bad shape,” Glimmerdust told reporters from a conference room filled with empty Pixy Stix and unpaid dentist bills.  “But we didn’t expect quite so many molars to be on the move.  Our actuarial spirits never anticipated this kind of financial loss.

According to court filings, Tooth Fairy LLC’s reserves depleted after making over 1.2 million pillow-side payments in rural Mississippi alone last quarter.  “We tried switching from quarters to nickels.  Then to loose change, then to IOUs written in glitter pen,” said Glimmerdust. “But even that couldn’t keep up with the demand.  We’re now accepting payment plans on baby teeth.”

The company’s troubles snowballed last year after a surge in sweet tea and a mysterious dental floss drought brought the “Mississippi Molar Massacre.” Local kids woke to shiny coins and quickly reinvested in the candy economy, fueling the crisis”.

“After our 1936 adult teeth expansion,” said CFO Smiley McConnell, “the volume of pay-outs became impossible.  Visit a Jackson monster truck or MAGA rally—and you’ll know what we’re talking about.”

Not everyone is mourning.  Dentists report a 40% uptick in Porsche sales.  Leprechauns—longtime rivals—have been seen celebrating outside payday loan offices.

Still, Glimmerdust stays hopeful. “We’re down but not out,” she said.  “We’re in talks with the Easter Bunny about a merger.  If not, there’s always a retirement waiting for us in Florida.”
