WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a striking display of both diplomatic resolve and impeccable lash definition, Vice-President J.D. Vance assured reporters Tuesday that he’s “taking a tough position” in negotiations to end the latest U.S.-Iranian war, despite persistent questions about his bold new eye makeup routine.
“I want to make it clear to the Supreme Leader that the United States will not back down,” said Vance, blinking slowly so his mascara-coated lashes caught the fluorescent light in the Situation Room. “We’re here to project strength. And also, to project a little bit of drama.”
Vance, who arrived at the talks sporting a smoky eye and, sources said, “winged eyeliner sharp enough to cut sanctions,” deftly mocked how both critics and the media focus on appearance over substance. At one point, a senior Iranian diplomat reportedly paused mid-threat to ask for Vance’s Sephora rewards number.
“It’s 2026,” Vance told reporters, dabbing at a rogue mascara smudge. “A man can defend American interests and his waterline at the same time. If anything, this makes me more intimidating. Have you seen how long it takes to perfect this look? That’s dedication.”
Sources close to the Vice-President say the makeup is part of a new negotiation strategy, codenamed “Operation Cat Eye,” which aims to distract adversaries with dazzling aesthetics while U.S. officials quietly push for a ceasefire and the return of all U.S. service members’ favorite lip glosses. “Frankly, the Iranians never saw it coming,” said one Pentagon official, before asking for tips on blending concealer.
Critics in Congress have accused Vance of sending “mixed messages,” with Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) lamenting that “it’s difficult to take a hardline stance when you look like you’re about to headline Coachella.” Vance shrugged off the jabs, noting that “real men aren’t afraid of a little Maybelline—especially when American lives are on the line.”
As negotiations drag on, it remains unclear whether Vance’s unique approach will bring peace to the region or just inspire a new TikTok trend. But one thing is certain: the Vice-President’s eyeliner is holding up better than U.S.-Iranian relations.
At press time, Vance was seen refreshing his mascara and practicing a steely gaze in his compact mirror, reportedly muttering, “Screw you, fake news. This is war paint.”
